Spotlight on the R&D department and in particular the testing and traceability service with Caglayan.
Describe your career path?
After leaving school, I went on to do a higher education certificate in chemistry and then a vocational bachelor’s degree in “chemical and pharmaceutical industry specialising in testing and analysis”. I did this degree as a sandwich course in Haguenau, which meant I could immediately put my theoretical knowledge into practice.
In 2012, I got a summer job at Erstein where I was in charge of checking the quality of the sugar produced. I then worked in quality control for the world’s leading rubber manufacturer and then for a company which produces different types of yeast.
Since 1 July 2012, I’ve been employed at Gaïatrend as a laboratory technician specialising in analytical chemistry.
What are your tasks?
I am in charge of running quality control on the raw materials and finished products. I also check the nicotine densities in the finished products and conduct physics and chemistry tests on the products. Once I have done all these checks, I process the results and interpret them. I work in direct collaboration and perfect symbiosis with the quality engineer.
In your opinion, what asset do you bring to the company?
I have contributed my experience in setting up quality control for food products.
In your opinion, what does ALFALIQUID contribute to vaping?
Quality – without a doubt! This field is barely regulated in terms of quality control so you can find all sorts of things on the market. With Alfaliquid, people can vape top-quality food-grade products in all tranquillity. I also think that having an in-house R&D department is an extra asset since we choose our flavours ourselves and it is our own flavourist who devises the mixtures. This means we can offer a broad selection of flavours and that, for me, is a real asset!
ALFALIQUID in 3 words:
Quality, sustainability, novelty.
What is your favourite creation?
I just vape out of curiosity, to get to know the flavours. My favourite creation is one of the most recent ones: Purple Blood, in 0mg/ml.
Your passion?
Baking cakes – which requires the same precision and thoroughness as chemistry.
Anything to add?
Thank you, Gaïatrend!
